US envoy condoles (sic) Begumpet naval aircraft crash
Hyderabad, Mar. 3 : U.S. Ambassador to India
Timothy J. Roemer has expressed regret at the crash of an Indian aircraft during an air show in Begumpet near Hyderabad.
“What began as such a promising day has sadly ended so tragically. As the full extent of this tragedy is still becoming known, all of our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives or were injured, and with their families. These heartbreaking losses have even more piercing impact when you are part of the event,” Roemer said in a statement issued by the US embassy.he aircraft crashed into the third floor of a residential building as it was executing ‘Sagar Pawan’ formation. Both pilots manning the aircraft were killed in the mishap.
Sources said a detailed probe has been ordered into the crash that will be held under the supervision of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief, Naval Aviation.
Sources said the Kiran fleet may be grounded following today’s crash.
Around seven people have been injured and have been taken to the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

Latest reports said that two Navy pilots died and two persons were injured in the crash. IANS reports that Commander S K Maurya and Lt Commander Rahul Nair were killed when the HJT-16 Kiran Mk2 trainer, built by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, crashed minutes before noon in the Bowenpally locality near the old Begumpet Airport in the heart of the city. According to witnesses, the plane had crashed into the mobile phone towers on top of the building.
