Nippon Air Toilets
Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) is to launch female-only toilets on most of its international routes from next month.
The airline said the toilet would be located at the rear of the plane and be open to female passengers from all classes, following “numerous requests for this service”.
According to Kyodo News, an airline official said female-only toilets were a response to a 2007 survey in which 90 per cent of women said they liked the idea.
The official said that women do not like using shared lavatories because men often leave the seat up, adding that demand for the new measure was particularly high on long haul flights.
