Nicknames
were the "Flying Jeep" and "Jungle Angel",
this was a very versatile aircraft used for reconnaissance,
rescue, evacuation of wounded, laying communications wire
(!) and a variety of other tasks during WW2 and the Korean
war. Some were still being used by the USAF until 1962.
Over 3500 were built. Less than 200 are still flying today.
